50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead concert in Knights Hall

December 7, 2018

50 years ago today, Knights Hall played host to a relatively new rock band from San Francisco, California. You might have heard of them. The band was called the Grateful Dead.

Admission to the December 7, 1968 show was $3 advance, $3.50 at the gate. The opening acts included local bands Stonehenge, The Waters and The Oxfords (misspelled on the hand-drawn promotional flyer).

Reportedly, this show featured the only live performance of “Rosemary.”

New to Knights Hall this year is a plaque celebrating the historic concert.

Bellarmine has hosted several other popular artists over the years, including Bowling For Soup, Maroon 5, Phillip Phillips, Twenty One Pilots, Sara Bareilles, MKTO, Elle King, Jesse McCartney and Gloriana.
