The Louisville Metro Office of Sustainability was created in 2012; Koetter, who has
extensive experience in the environmental field, is the office’s first director. The
city published its first sustainability plan, Sustain Louisville, in 2013.
This event is presented by Beargrass Creek Alliance, Bellarmine University's School
of Environmental Studies and Louisville Metro Government.
The Beargrass Creek Alliance is a grassroots group seeking to preserve Louisville’s
greatest natural resource through community involvement. Their mission is to raise
awareness about Beargrass Creek and make it clean, safe and accessible for all. The
alliance operates under the umbrella of the non-profit Kentucky Waterways Alliance.

Students work on the Bellarmine Farm, with the Beargrass Creek watershed visible in
the background.
