| Phyllis Bennis |
She is the author of eight books, including "Understanding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: A Primer (2009," "Understanding the US-Iran Crisis: A Primer (2009)" and "Ending the US War in Afghanistan: A Primer (2010)." She has been featured in numerous documentary films on the Iraq war, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the United Nations and other issues.
This event was arranged by a group of Bellarmine faculty members, along with Bellarmine's Quality Enhancement Plan and the Student Government Association.
“Ms Bennis’s talk will promote deeper understanding of the obstacles to peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," said Dr. Curtis Bergstrand, an associate professor of sociology and one of the event's organizers. "She will argue for a new U.S. policy in the Middle East that respects the rights and aspirations of all peoples in the region and fosters movement toward a just peace.”
