Beginning August 1, 2018, students seeking admission to Bellarmine University will be able to use The Common Application, an online college application platform that allows students to manage their applications to multiple colleges in one place, rather than completing separate forms for each institution.

The Common Application is a not-for-profit enrollment collaboration among more than 800 member colleges and universities throughout the United States. Each year, more than one million students apply to college through the Common App’s online application; one-third of them are striving to become the first generation in their family to complete a college degree.

"By partnering with other colleges and universities through The Common Application, we're making the college application process a little easier and more efficient for future Knights," said Dr. Susan M. Donovan, Bellarmine's president. "More significantly, the Common App will help us connect with students of all backgrounds who might not otherwise realize a Bellarmine education is within their reach, including first generation students who tend to thrive at Bellarmine."

In addition to providing a single, online application and 24/7/365 support for all students applying to member colleges and universities, the Common App connects students to financial aid and scholarship tools, virtual mentors and counselors, digital portfolios and Spanish language translations. The Common App also offers a library of resources for counselors and advisors who are working with students to complete their college applications.

"The diversity of our membership is one of our greatest strengths,” said Jenny Rickard, president and CEO of The Common Application. “Through membership with The Common Application, Bellarmine University has demonstrated a shared commitment to pursuing access, equity and integrity in the college admission process. Thanks to our members, all students, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to easily apply to the college or university that will help them achieve their best future.”

Students can create a Common App account now because their account will roll over from year to year. Beginning this year, Common App members have also begun using the newly introduced Common App for transfer, a separate application designed to meet the needs of transfer and adult student populations.

Bellarmine will continue to offer a direct application for admission, separate from The Common Application, at bellarmine.edu.
