2017 PEAK Champions

Bellarmine University became champion at the 2017 PEAK Championship. Promote and Encourage Accounting in Kentucky (PEAK) is a Jeopardy-style quiz show competition that tests participants’ knowledge of the accounting profession, as well as those tough questions that appear on the Uniform CPA Exam. The competition is sponsored and coordinated by KyCPA.

Teams of college and university accounting students from around the state annually compete for a traveling trophy and bragging rights – as well as $1,000 KyCPA Educational Foundation scholarships, which are awarded to each member of the winning team. 

Startup Louisville Record Crowd

The School of Business hosted Startup Weekend Louisville, October 14-16, 2016. This year's Startup Weekend was the largest to date with over 80 participants and over 100 attending the final presentations. Read more.

Multi-regional visitors on Economic Development visit Bellarmine

On Monday, September 26, Bellarmine University students and faculty had an opportunity to meet with a U.S. State Department economic delegation. The delegation was in town on a program themed "Global Economic Cooperation and Revitalization." Increasingly, economics and business are drivers of global prosperity as they create jobs and enhance stability at home and abroad. In this program, overseas participants are examining government strategies for stimulating economic growth to facilitate domestic and international economic recovery. In addition, they are visiting a range of startup and established businesses, banks, chambers of commerce, community groups, NGOs and government agencies as well as think tanks and universities to discuss trade, investments, incentives, taxes and fiscal policy. All delegates spoke English, and interacted with students and faculty, and answered questions. Students and faculty learned about the problems participants are facing in their home countries and what they want to learn from the U.S.

MBA Students Launch Prisma

Bellarmine MBA Students; Christopher Cousins, Shane Healey, Kelci Kirchdorfer, Charles Lents and Erin Green team up with Louisville’s very own FirstBuild to help launch Prisma, FirstBuild’s revolutionary Cold Brew Coffee Maker.

Phil Hawkins and David Durik, Founders of Indatus, Speak at BU

David Durik, CEO
David Durik obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with High Distinction, from the University of Kentucky, College of Business in May of 1989. Following graduation, David worked for a short period of time in commercial banking before venturing out on his own to start ICIM Corporation (d.b.a. Indatus). David took over as CEO of the Company in 2003. David has served on many charitable boards both locally and nationally. Currently he serves on the National Affordable Housing Management Association’s Foundation Board which works to provide college scholarships to children from low income housing. David is married to Cathy (Francis) Durik and has two children, Ashley (14) and Justin (13).

Philip Hawkins, President
Philip Hawkins was born on May 2, 1969 in Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated from Oldham County High School in 1987 and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of Kentucky in 1991. Philip joined ICIM Corporation (d.b.a. Indatus) in February 1992. Philip is married to Heather S. Hawkins and has four children, Tyler (17), Harper (10), Hayden (10) and Emerson (8).

Guest Speakers

U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District spoke to School of Business students about his transition into politics from a successful career as an entrepreneur and inventor.
