Craft Beth Ament Dierfeldt ’07 and her husband, Daniel, proudly announce the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Lynn Dierfeldt on Feb. 14, 2013. Dierfeldt Leslie (Hurak) Lee ’07 and Brian Lee welcomed Emery Rose Lee on March 7, 2013. Jessica McGill ’07 married Justin Heim on Dec. 22, 2012, at the Louisville Palace. Matt Niehaus ’07 MBA and his wife, Kate, have moved to Columbia, S.C., where Matt is the director of government affairs for the Home Builders Association of South Carolina, overseeing all activity at the Statehouse, and Kate is an assistant professor in the College of Education at the University of South Carolina. Danielle Smith ’07 and Wesley Smith ’08 announce the birth of their first child, Angela Claire, on Jan. 26, 2013. Stephanie Vermeesch ’07 married Kurt Moss on Oct. 6, 2012. Anna Ament ’09 and Andrew Deeds were married on Oct. 20, 2012, in Louisville. Anna graduated from Indiana University in 2011 with a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs and now counsels students on academics at IU. Andrew, a Purdue graduate, is a biomedical engineer at Cook Medical. The couple lives in Bloomington, Ind. Richard Remsing ’67 of Middletown died March 23 at home. He was 68. Born in Molidorf, Yugoslavia, he retired in 2001 from AK Steel, where he was a systems analyst in human resources. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and served in the United States Army. He was also a member of the Cincinnati Donauschwaben Society. Survivors include his wife, Jackie (Ellenburg) Remsing; sons Matt (Courtney) Remsing, Mark (Amy) Remsing and Marty (Lori) Remsing; daughter, Mary (Mark) Reames; and eight grandchildren. Brooke Nichole Lahr ’10 died of injuries suffered when she was struck by an automobile on April 21 in Acapulco, Mexico. Born in Indianapolis, she graduated with a degree Jennifer Marie (Kisselbaugh) Hallas ’10 and Michael John Hallas Jr. announce the birth of their daughter, Evelyn Marie, on March 12, 2013. Katie Kopple ’11 and Zach Blanchard ’11 were married Feb. 23, 2013, at St. James Church in Louisville. Katie is a respiratory therapist and Zach is an air traffic controller in the U.S. Navy. They live in Pensacola, Fla., where Zach is stationed. BU alums in the wedding party were Becca Kopple ’07, Taylor Kopple ’11, Sandra Soriano ’12, Ashley Eveland ’11, John Lyons ’11, Ryan Rozycki ’11 and Kyle Switalski ’10. Christopher Hamilton ’12 and his wife are pleased to announce the birth of their second son, Ayden Reed Hamilton, on Sept. 7, 2012. in biology and played volleyball at Bellarmine for two years. During her junior year at Bellarmine, she found her calling when she was involved in a mission trip to Guatemala with Hearts in Motion. From that time on, she strived to help the less fortunate. She worked with Passionist Volunteers International (PVI) in Honduras in 2010-11. Upon her return, she spent eight months caring for a relative with Hodgkin’s Disease. She worked with Connect-2-Help in the summer of 2012, and was working with Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH), “Our Small Brothers and Sisters,” in Mexico at the time of her death. Brooke’s survivors include her parents, Mark and Colleen Lahr, and brothers Paul Lahr and Anthony Lahr, all of Indianapolis; and her grandparents, David and Sandy Lahr of Lafayette, Ind.
