Distance Education

Bellarmine University has long had a strong reputation not just for being one of the most excellent liberal arts institutions in the South, but for maintaining a vibrant community of faculty and students. As we’re seeing in exciting examples across campus, high-quality distance education allows us to expand our reach in ways that weren’t possible until recently, without forfeiting the tight-knit communities of learning that our students remember, long after they leave. At Bellarmine, online learning isn’t about the distance; it’s about building new kinds of bridges—pulling together faculty and students to create dynamic experiences made possible through the wonders of modern technology. Even from afar, we’re big on face-to-face. Now, wherever you are, you too can be BU Knight.

We offer several fully-online programs, including the Master of Arts in Education (MAEd), Rank I, the Master of Health Science (MHS) and Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Social Justice (MEDHE). These programs combine the flexibility you need with the Bellarmine quality you expect, at a competitive price.

There are no second-class students at Bellarmine, and we’re committed to treating our online students the same as we do those on campus. Through technologies such as Skype for Business, our faculty and staff are equipped to provide the same level of excellence in appropriate academic and student services, even at a distance. All faculty who teach online at Bellarmine are required to complete a certification process, and our online classes are reviewed using the industry-standard Quality Matters rubric, to ensure the quality and rigor are on par with our campus-based offerings.

Learn more on our “Programs of Study” page below. Those available completely online are listed in the “Online Programs” section.
