Reunion Weekend was held virtually this year because of COVID-19 concerns. Helping alumni celebrate was Jim Beam Master Distiller Fred Noe ’82, who conducted a live “Stir Crazy Cocktail Knight” via Zoom for 500 registrants on
June 4. He shared two recipes and signed bottles for Harold Davis ’83 and Scott Ironside ’96, who both submitted the winning name for a special Bellarmine cocktail: The Knight Knectar.
The Knight Knectar
6 oz bourbon
4 tbs fresh lemon juice
4 tsp seedless blackberry preserves
2 tsp powdered sugar
Fresh blackberries, for garnish
Add all ingredients (except blackberries) to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into rocks glasses filled with ice. Skewer blackberries on a toothpick and add as garnish. Makes two cocktails.
5 oz. Schweppes club soda (or your favorite bubbly club soda)
Add ice and Jim Beam to a highball (tall) glass. Top with bubbly club soda and garnish with lemon wedge.
Fred’s Creek Mule
A Kentucky take on the Moscow Mule
1.5-2 oz. Knob Creek bourbon
3 oz. Ginger beer
½ oz. lime juice
Add ice, bourbon and lime juice to a traditional copper mug or rocks glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a lime wedge.
