Welcome to Bellarmine, where your college journey is about so much more than just studying for exams. Balancing classes, activities, and friendships can get tough, but taking care of your well-being is one of the best ways to stay happy and successful. Here are five simple ways you can look after your mind, body, and spirit using great resources right here on campus.
Connect With Campus Wellness Initiatives:
College life is an exciting journey, but it can also be a lot to balance. At Bellarmine, wellness means supporting students' mind, body, and spirit. The Campus Wellness office, located right in the lobby of the SuRF Center, offers great workshops, educational outreach, and fun training events to help you build healthy habits for life. Get involved as a Peer Wellness Educator to help lead wellness events on campus- a great way to find your community and grow as a leader.
Stay Active at The SuRF Center:
Moving your body is a great way to boost your mood, relieve stress, and make lasting friends on campus. The Sport, Recreation and Fitness Center, known as the SuRF Center, is open every day to give you a welcoming place to work out or join group fitness classes. Even better, intramural sports are free for all current students, and signing up on IMLeagues is quick and easy. Playing these casual campus sports helps build a strong sense of belonging while keeping you in top physical shape.
Nurture Your Spiritual Well-Being:
Taking time to pause and reflect can bring deep peace to your busy weekly schedule. Campus Ministry provides space for spiritual growth, welcoming students of all backgrounds to explore their faith and find deep connections. You can attend Mass at the beautiful Our Lady of the Woods Chapel every Sunday at 6 p.m. or Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Wednesday services also include adoration, confession, and relaxed fellowship time, a perfect opportunity to slow down and bond with fellow knights.
Prioritize Your Mental Health:
Caring for your emotional and mental well-being is just as important as keeping your body healthy. The Dr. Marian A. Swope Counseling Center, located in Centro, provides free and confidential short-term counseling services to all enrolled students. You can meet with professional counselors in person or through safe telehealth visits to manage stress, improve your mood, or handle anxiety. The center also offers free, anonymous online peer support through a platform called Togetherall, ensuring you always have a safe space to talk 24/7.
Take Care of Your Physical Health:
When you are not feeling your best, it is hard to focus on your classes and enjoy campus life. The Office of Health Services, located on the first floor of Newman Hall, is a completely free student health clinic open five days a week for sick visits and basic medical care. Students also have 24/7 access to free medical video visits through Norton eCare, making it incredibly easy to get non-urgent care right from your residence hall room at any time. To stay on top of your overall well-being, visit the official Bellarmine Wellness Hub to review resources and schedule your free appointments.
