Campus Visit

Emma's Fairytale Bellarmine Story

Student Stories

By: Emma Stivers, Music, Pre-Physical Therapy

I will never forget the first time I visited Bellarmine’s campus. I was shocked at how beautiful the view was when driving down Newburg Road and under the archway. I remember thinking to myself perhaps entering the “gates,” was a symbol for my new beginning. Little did I know, I was in for the adventure of a lifetime.

When I was applying to different colleges, I thought I had the perfect idea of what college would look like. Never in a million years did I think it would be Bellarmine: mostly because I didn’t even know it existed! After some convincing by my mom, we decided to take the short trip from Lexington to Louisville for a campus tour. When I first toured Bellarmine, it was almost scary how perfectly things started to line up.

Bellarmine had a welcoming and loving music department that would help me to grow as a musician and find a community of friends.

I knew I wanted to pursue physical therapy, and funny enough, Bellarmine had an amazing doctoral of physical therapy program and an undergraduate pathway to would help me get there!

I grew up singing and loving the arts. Bellarmine had a welcoming and loving music department that would help me to grow as a musician and find a community of friends.

I also knew I wanted a beautiful campus with lots of outdoor space, and if you’ve ever been to Bellarmine, you know it’s basically the definition of a beautiful college campus.

My Bellarmine story is sort of like a fairytale. As cheesy as that may sound. Bellarmine gives you everything you need to create your best story.

I wanted to be seen for who I was as a person and as a student, and I could tell it was that type of community. I quickly discovered Bellarmine would be the place I would be fortunate enough to call home for the next four years.

My Bellarmine story is sort of like a fairytale. As cheesy as that may sound. Bellarmine gives you everything you need to create your best story. In trying to list my favorite experiences, I think it comes down to the tiny details that add up to make the biggest difference. It’s the Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee in the library during finals week. It’s the random silent discos in Frazier at the end of a busy week. It’s the hot apple cider and caramel apple bar in the middle of the quad because it’s the beginning of the fall. It’s the phone call from your professor on a random Wednesday night who is calling to check in on you. It’s all of these personal touches that prove the Bellarmine community is one big family. I know there are lists full of people on campus who know my name, my story, and who care deeply about me and my success.

Choosing Bellarmine means you get to write your own story. It means no matter what you decide to pursue, there will be a tribe of people cheering you on and helping you along the path. Go Knights!
