Preparations are nearly complete for Wednesday evening's commencement ceremony in Knights Hall.

Bellarmine will award 305 degrees during its December commencement ceremony in Knights
Hall on Wednesday, December 16, at 6 p.m.
The university will confer 114 undergraduate and 191 graduate degrees.
The commencement speaker is Rabbi Joseph Rapport, who will also receive an honorary
degree. Rapport is a senior rabbi at The Temple in Louisville, where has served the
congregation since 1988. Additionally, he teaches courses on Jewish history at Bellarmine
and is a member of the University Of Louisville’s Board Of Overseers. He also serves
as chairman of the Advisory Board for the Rauch Planetarium.
In the Jewish community, Rapport has served as a member of the executive committee
of the Jewish Community Federation and president of the Kentucky Board of Rabbis and
Cantors. In 2012 he created TorahTecha: iBook Prayerbook, an interactive Hebrew prayerbook
for the Apple iPad.

Dr. Marian Swope will also receive an honorary degree during the ceremony. Swope oversees
the Child and Adolescent Residency Program at the University Hospital’s Chandler Medical
Center in Lexington. She is also an associate professor of psychiatry at the University
of Kentucky.
Swope graduated from Bellarmine in 1969, and was inducted to Bellarmine’s Gallery
of Distinguished Graduates in 1994. She has also served as a member of the Bellarmine
Board of trustees.
