The Outsized Influence Festival - celebrating music created by Bellarmine University alumni and students - returns
to Bellarmine’s quad for a second year on Saturday,
Sept. 5.
In addition to live music from 15 bands on three stages, the free and family-friendly
festival features art by Bellarmine students and graduates, plus food trucks from
the
Louisville Street Food Alliance. Performances begin at 2:30 p.m. [campus map]
This year’s headline acts are King Kong - a legendary Louisville rock band formed in 1989 - and The Foxery, an indie/punk band that released their debut full-length album, Unless, last year.
Other performers include
Squeezebot (featuring Bonnie Prince Billy), Carly Johnson & Craig Wagner, Steasy Squadron
(featuring Shadowpact, Kogan Dumb, Bonez, and Sloe Pink), Ed Monk, Slow Down Johnny,
Merry Pranksters, In Lightning, The Hart Strings, Hey Babe, Hanna &
The Barbarians, Hitchhike, Tamerlane Trio and Postcaulfield.
Each band includes at least one student, graduate or faculty member from the Bellarmine
community.
“After last year's success, it was an easy decision to organize
another festival,” said festival co-organizer Will Ford, a recent Bellarmine graduate.
“There are more bands to showcase and more reasons to show Louisville that Bellarmine
is one of the many centers of music education and cultivation
in this city.”
There is also an afterparty at The Bard’s Town, 1801 Bardstown Road, beginning at 10:30 p.m., with a $5 cover charge. Wilder
Stallions and Funkasaurus will perform.
