BFSA LogoThe Black Faculty and Staff Alliance at Bellarmine University aims to foster social support and networking among Black faculty and staff, advocate for their growth and professional development, collaborate with administration on recruitment and retention issues, and support educational and student initiatives to enhance the experience of Black individuals within the university community.

Key Objectives

Social Support and Networking

  • Network and collaborate with Black Faculty and Staff at Bellarmine University.
  • Support campus community engagement by developing and strengthening collaborative relationships between the University and Black Faculty and Staff.
  • Provide opportunities for social and professional networking.
  • Network and collaborate with other Bellarmine affinity groups.

Advocacy

  • Support the growth and professional development of Black Faculty and Staff
    • Ensure that we provide mentorship for new Black Faculty and Staff through the progression of our careers.
    • Work with the President’s Advisory Board on Equity an Inclusion and HR staff to ensure they are meeting the needs and interests of Black Faculty and Staff.
  • Work with Bellarmine’s administration on issues relating to the Black Faculty and Staff recruitment, retention, engaging and advancement
    • Promote and celebrate Bellarmine Black Faculty and Staff contributions and achievements.
    • Aggressively advocate for funding to support Black Faculty and Staff recruitment, retention, engaging and advancement.

Educational programming for the Bellarmine Community

  • Support the university’s existing programs, services and organizations that work directly with prospective and current Black Students, Faculty and Staff.

Student Support

  • Support the university’s initiatives to increase the recruitment and retention of Black Students.
  • Work with university programs, services and organizations to increase Black Student participation.

BFSA membership is open to all faculty & staff members at Bellarmine University. Join us today!

The membership of this Alliance is open to all Faculty and Staff of Bellarmine University.

The Membership consists of Two Types of Membership, Voting Membership and an Affiliate Membership. The Voting Membership consists of Members who identity as Black, African-American or African. Members of the Voting Membership are eligible to vote on Official, or Unofficial BFSA Business and become BFSA Officers.

An Affiliate Membership consists of members not eligible for the Voting Membership, yet may still attend BFSA Meetings and participate in non-voting events. An Affiliate Member is not eligible to become a BFSA Officer, participate in or vote in Elections.

Eligible Voting Members will consist of Bellarmine’s Faculty and Staff who are included in The Voting Membership and are current members of the BFSA’s e-mail discussion list.
