Accounting & Auditing Analytics Certificates

The Executive Education program at Bellarmine's Rubel School of Business is now offering two new certificates! The Certificate in Accounting Analytics reviews concepts and tools for data analysis using spreadsheets, statistical programming, and visualization and applies those tools to practical examples in financial and managerial accounting. The Certificate in Auditing Analytics reviews analytic concepts and tools being used in auditing and applies those tools to internal controls, substantive testing, and risk assessment. The certificate also surveys how topics such as blockchain, machine learning, and AI are impacting the audit profession.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate knowledge of terms, methods, and tools for data management and analysis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of trends in data management and analysis.
  • Demonstrate how to acquire, transform, analyze, and visualize    data.
  • Demonstrate how to solve problems in accounting and auditing using data analytics.

Course Methodology

DIRECTED SELF-STUDY

The self-development of knowledge, experiences, opinions, and ideas sharpens analytical skills, improves judgment, and enhances conceptual skills. This approach also allows students to apply theoretical constructs from their courses to real-world problems.

INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATIONS

The ability to communicate effectively is important in the business world. Students show the development of this skill making oral presentations.

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPATION

Although highly quantitative, data analytics is not an exact science. Students need the ability to assess the strength and weakness of various analytical techniques, along with when and how each technique should be utilized. Students will be exposed to business situations requiring reflection, analysis, and action to gain experience in applying analytical tools in practical situations.
