Bellarmine Women defeat Missouri-St. Louis 75-64

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Jan. 15, 2009) -- The Bellarmine University women's basketball team defeated the Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis 75-64 to open their two game road trip. Coach David Smith's squad was once again led by the senior members of his team as the Knights evened up their conference record at 3-3 while improving to 11-4 overall.

Senior center Dana Beaven paced the Knights with 20 points and eight rebounds in the victory tonight. Fellow seniors Allison Hughes and Taylor Kopple chipped in 18 and 15 points respectively as the trio recorded 53 of the team's 75 points.

Bellarmine also outrebounded Missouri-St. Louis by a count of 50-40. Kopple pulled down 13 boards to notch a double-double for the evening while senior Shawna Nicols collected 10 rebounds.

The Tritons, who were led by Kelly Mitchell with 16 points, fell to 4-12 (1-6 in the GLVC) for the year.

Bellarmine continues their road trip through Missouri with a stop in Kansas City where they will face Rockhurst University on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1:00 p.m. CST.
