Andrew Stone Porter is Assistant Professor of Theology & Religious Studies at Bellarmine. His teaching, scholarship and service focus on religious symbols and institutions in light of social justice issues especially around race, gender, and class. Andrew received his Ph.D. in Religion, Ethics & Society from Vanderbilt University in 2021. He is a proud Bellarmine alum (’07) and also holds a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School (’14). Andrew served as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer from 2008-10 in Bolivia and Paraguay, where he worked with beekeepers; he now serves as a faculty advisor to the Bellarmine Beekeeping Club. His work has been published in the Journal of the Society of Christian Ethics, the Journal of Religious Ethics, American Journal of Theology and Philosophy, CrossCurrents, Journal for Religious and Cultural Theory, and The Other Journal. He and his partner Shannon have three children.
