The College Visit in a Pandemic

Admissions

Bellarmine worked dutifully last summer to create policies and a plan to be able to offer our incredible campus visit experience, including getting to know current students, in a safe and hospitable way. Our efforts paid off! Throughout the fall semester, we remained open to visitors, and are still able to host daily campus visits now. Since we reopened visits on August 3rd of 2020, we've welcomed nearly 700 families to our campus, and have not had a single transmission or positive case reported in that time.

So, what can you expect from a college visit in a pandemic?

Bellarmine's campus is open to visitors with a safe and welcoming campus tour. Visit participants will be limited to no more than 3 people per family, and tours will have no more than 5 families total in attendance to ensure the safety and health of all participants. The 5 families are split for tours to create smaller groups for better social distancing while on the tour and riding our trolley.

Upon arrival, you will be asked to remain in your car and call us to let us know you have arrived. We invite only one family at a time to come through the check in process where you can expect to complete a health screening form and have your temperature checked by your Admissions host to ensure no one on the tour is symptomatic. Each family is screened separately, and escorted to our presentation room before the next family is invited to check in. We provide masks for all visitors to wear during the tour (though you’re welcome to bring your own from home). All visitors to campus are required to wear a face covering throughout the entire visit.

During the visit, you will meet in a small group with an admission counselor for a 30 minute presentation, which includes a video about the student experience. You will then be divided into smaller groups to head out on your tour with a current student who can tell you all about life as a Knight. Once you’ve seen campus, you and your family will take a trolley tour of the Highlands, our beautiful neighborhood filled with shops, parks, and a wide variety of dining options.  The trolley is cleaned and sanitized between each group.

After the neighborhood tour, you will return to campus and you are free to head home. The full visit takes a total of 2 hours, and you can feel safe and secure in our social distancing and sanitation practices throughout your entire experience.

We award a $1,500 Trustee scholarship to all students who complete a campus visit and file FAFSA. After your visit, you are one step closer to a $6,000 discount on your four years at Bellarmine, and that goes for students who prefer to make a virtual information session, too!

In summary, here are all the ways we'll be keeping you safe:

  • Visits will be limited to a total of five families at a time
  • All family groups will be no more than three people total
  • All visitors will complete a health screening when they arrive on campus
  • All visitors, staff and students will be required to wear a mask at all times during their tour

If you still don't feel comfortable with an in-person visit, you can qualify for our $6,000 Trustee Scholarship by attending our virtual information session. The virtual information session includes a presentation by an admission counselor on life at BU, the Bellarmine guarantee, application process, and our generous scholarship opportunities. And even if you can’t see campus in person, you can check it out and connect with other incoming students online at our Virtual Visit Site.

We are so excited to welcome you to your Bellarmine visit experience! Schedule yours today!
