Student Stories

As a senior in high school, I had no direction on where I wanted to attend college. My older brother had attended Bellarmine, so I told myself I wanted to go to a different school. My mom insisted I should at least visit Bellarmine’s campus before I officially marked it off my list. As always, my mom was very smart in doing so. From the moment I stepped onto campus I knew I had made a mistake by saying I wasn’t interested in attending this school. I was in awe by the hospitality I was greeted with from the beginning. It was unmatched. The staff made me feel at home. I knew this was the place for me.

The kindness of the staff, the energy of the student leaders, and the atmosphere I was surrounded with while at Bellarmine sparked an early love for the school.

I was honestly sad when my campus tour was over, and I looked forward to each event Bellarmine was holding for the incoming students. With every event that I attended; it solidified that Bellarmine University was the perfect match for me. The kindness of the staff, the energy of the student leaders, and the atmosphere I was surrounded with while at Bellarmine sparked an early love for the school. I knew by coming here I was going to be surrounded by people who are determined to see me succeed.

The aspect of the university that inspired me to come here the most was the student leadership I was exposed to. The students here are given so many amazing opportunities to grow their leadership skills. As a senior in high school, this stood out to me because I shied away from most opportunities like that. It was a goal of mine to attend a school that would break me out of my shell and help me become a more courageous person. As a sophomore at Bellarmine, I feel this university has already helped me to achieve this goal.

It is extremely easy to get involved at BU, and with every group I become a part of I have learned crucial skills I know will ultimately lead me to success after college. I learned even if it seems like I have mastered a skill, there is still room for improvement. Bellarmine has shown me that I should never stop trying to better myself.

I knew if I chose Bellarmine, I would be placed in smaller class sizes. This trait has been one of the biggest factors in my success at Bellarmine thus far.

Another aspect that drew me to attend Bellarmine was the size of the university. Bellarmine was smaller than most colleges I visited, but bigger than others. For me, it was the happy medium. I knew if I chose Bellarmine, I would be placed in smaller class sizes. This trait has been one of the biggest factors in my success at Bellarmine thus far. With smaller class sizes I can form closer relationships with my professors. They all know me by name! You can’t get that from a large university! My professors know me, and I know they are fighting to see me succeed.

In the past I have been asked, “What type of student is Bellarmine a perfect fit for?” To answer that question bluntly, I say “Everyone!” Bellarmine is the perfect fit for the type of student who wants to attend a college that will help them grow as a person. It is the perfect fit for the student who wants to be surrounded by people who want to see them succeed. Bellarmine University is the perfect fit for the type of student who wants their college to be a second home. This is why I chose Bellarmine, and now it is home!
