Homecoming week is one of the most exciting traditions on campus. It’s a chance to celebrate school spirit, engage with the community, and enjoy a break from routine. From themed dress days to campus events and basketball games, there’s something happening every day. Bellarmine student Karmyn Perry breaks down what to expect during this year’s Homecoming celebration.
Twin Day, Staff/Students Game
Kick off the week on Monday, February 16, by finding your look-alike for Twin Day. Grab your bestie and coordinate those outfits. While you’re matching, keep an eye out for the Student Activities Council (SAC) at various spots across campus starting at 11:00 a.m. as they hand out exclusive student sweatshirts until they’re gone. The excitement continues in Knights Hall at 6:30 p.m. for the Faculty/Staff vs. Students Basketball Game, the perfect chance to see if students can outrun their professors on the court.
Career Day, Involvement Fair
On Tuesday, February 17, dress to impress for Future Career Day. Once you’re suited up, head to Frazier Hall between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for the Involvement Fair. This is a great opportunity to meet student leaders, learn about campus organizations, and find a group that matches your interests.
Bellarmine Day
Midweek brings a sea of scarlet and silver for Bellarmine Day on Wednesday, February 18. The celebration begins at 3:00 p.m. with the Black Student Union (BSU) Tailgate (tentatively at the SuRF), followed by a basketball doubleheader in Knights Hall. The women’s team tips off at 5:00 p.m., and the men’s game follows at 7:30 p.m.
Decades Day, Bingo
Thursday, February 19, invites you to take a trip through time for Decades Day, also known as Throwback Thursday. Whether you’re feeling ’70s flares or ’90s grunge, show off your favorite vintage style. The retro fun continues at Frazier Hall, where the Bellarmine Activities Center (BAC) hosts Bingo starting at 9:15 p.m. Arrive early to grab a good seat and a chance at prizes.
Anything but a Backpack, Knight of Honor Dinner, Homecoming Dance
The excitement peaks on Friday, February 20, with one of Homecoming’s most creative traditions: Anything but a Backpack Day. Leave the North Face at home and carry your supplies in something unexpected — a shopping cart, cooler, or laundry basket. The more creative, the better. That evening, the Knight of Honor Dinner provides an elegant lead-in to the Homecoming Dance. The celebration continues at the Grand from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for a night of music, dancing, and community.
Knight of Honor Court Announcement
Saturday wraps up Homecoming week with one final moment of Knight pride. The community gathers in Knights Hall at 7:00 p.m. for the men’s basketball game, with the highly anticipated Knight of Honor Court Announcement taking place at halftime.
Homecoming is all about celebrating what it means to be a Knight: showing school spirit, connecting with friends, and creating lasting memories. Whether you participate in one event or all, have a great Homecoming!
