The Bellarmine Magazine Photo Contest is open to amateur photographers and readers
of Bellarmine Magazine who are 18 years of age or older. For purposes of this contest,
an “amateur” is a person who doesn’t derive the largest portion
of their income from the sale of photographs. Each entrant may submit one (1) photo
in each of the following categories, for a total of up to three (3) entries:
Nature (this includes landscapes and photographs of animals, birds or aquatic life) Architecture/cityscapes Faces (human only, please) Photos may be black-and-white or color. Each must be an authentic, original photograph
taken by the entrant, for which they own the copyright.
How to enter
Photos must be submitted electronically. Email your photos to magazine Editor Carla
Carlton with “Photo Contest” as the subject line. Photos must be at least 1 megabyte
(1 MB) but must not exceed 3 megabytes (3 MB). In your email, include
a description of your photo along with your name; your Bellarmine connection, if any
(student, alumni, faculty, parent, etc.); your mailing address; and a phone number
where you may be reached. If you are a student, please include your major; alumni,
please include your year of graduation.
The deadline to enter has been extended to 11:59 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024.
Judging
Photographs will be judged on originality, composition and technical execution by
members of the Bellarmine Magazine staff. Judges will select first-, second- and
third-place finishers in each category (where applicable) and may select honorable
mention(s) at their discretion. First-place winners in each category will receive
$100. Photographs will be featured in the Fall 2024 issue of Bellarmine Magazine
and on the magazine’s website. Bellarmine retains the right to publish any submitted
photograph in Bellarmine Magazine, on the Bellarmine University website and in other
Bellarmine publications.
