Required Equipment & Software for Dual Credit Courses

To succeed in your Bellarmine Dual Credit courses—especially those with online components—you’ll need access to reliable technology and the right tools. Here’s everything you need to be fully prepared:

Hardware Requirements

Chromebooks and mobile devices may not be fully supported. For the best experience, ensure you have:

  • A computer manufactured within the last five years running a current operating system.
  • A physical keyboard and mouse (or an approved alternative for accessibility accommodations).
  • An audio-visual recording device (such as a webcam or smartphone with a camera) for virtual participation.
  • Reliable internet with at least 25 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload speeds to support online coursework and video conferencing.

Required Software & Applications

  • A modern web browser with a built-in PDF reader – Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge recommended
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) – Free for all Bellarmine students
  • Access to Moodle – Bellarmine’s Learning Management System for course materials, assignments, and communication
  • Access to Kaltura – A video platform used for submitting presentations and viewing recorded content

Don’t Have a Computer? Use Bellarmine’s On-Campus Resources

Bellarmine offers access to public computer workstations and computer labs across campus. These are available to all students, including those in the Dual Credit program.

Where to Find Public Computers:

W.L. Lyons Brown Library – Multiple stations available during library hours for research, studying, and completing assignments
University Computer Labs – Located in academic buildings and residence halls, fully equipped with the tools you need.

These computers include access to:

  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Moodle and Kaltura
  • Web research tools, printers, and scanners

Pro Tip: Save your work to OneDrive or a USB drive, and always log out when you finish to protect your personal information.
