Grading for Dual Credit & University Courses

Understanding how grades are assigned, recorded, and calculated is essential for dual credit students, high schools, and parents. Here’s what you need to know:

University Grading Scale

Students receive letter grades for university courses, following Bellarmine University’s standard grading system:

A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, F

No numeric grade data will be submitted—only letter grades appear on official transcripts.

Dual Credit Grades & Academic Records

  • Dual credit grades are permanent – They are recorded on both the student’s University and high school transcripts.
  • Grades follow the University’s official grading policy – Per state regulations, secondary schools awarding dual credit must use the University’s grading scale.

KEES GPA Calculation

According to KAR regulation 15:090, the University-assigned course grade will be used by the high school to calculate the KEES GPA, following a 5.0-point scale:

GradeKEES GPA Scale
A5.0
B4.0
C3.0
D2.0
F1.0

Reminder: This weighted GPA scale applies only to KEES scholarship calculations and does not replace the student’s high school GPA policy.

Grade Submission Deadlines

Universities cannot change grade submission deadlines or accommodate early reporting requests for high schools. All grades must be submitted according to University policy and state requirements.

Thank you for your attention to these grading policies! Your support ensures that dual credit students stay on track for success.
