Dual Credit & Non-Dual Credit Students in the Same Classroom

SACSCOC permits high schools to enroll both dual credit and non-dual credit students in the same classroom. However, dual credit students must engage in more rigorous coursework to meet college-level expectations.

Bellarmine University is responsible for justifying and documenting how course differentiation is implemented and ensuring that high schools uphold these standards.

Best Practices for Differentiation

  • Separate Syllabus – Dual credit students should have a syllabus that reflects college-level expectations and coursework.
  • Additional Assignments – Students earning college credit should complete extra assignments, research, or projects that reflect higher academic rigor.
  • College Readiness & Prerequisites – If the course follows a fully college-level curriculum, all students (including those not earning dual credit) must meet college readiness standards and prerequisites.

By maintaining these practices, we ensure that dual credit students receive a true college experience while maintaining compliance with SACSCOC accreditation standards.
