Substitute Teacher Policy

Important Information for High School Teachers & Administrators

Ensuring a consistent, high-quality learning experience for dual credit students is a top priority. Here’s what you need to know about instructor responsibilities:

Primary Instructor Responsibility

  • The assigned instructor is expected to teach the course from start to finish to maintain instructional consistency and academic integrity.
  • Instructors must adhere to Bellarmine University’s curriculum, policies, and assessment standards throughout the course.

Long-Term Substitute Policy

If a long-term substitute is needed for a Dual Credit course:

  • Notify Bellarmine University immediately – Contact the Director of the Dual Credit Institute dualcredit@bellarmine.edu as soon as possible.
  • Instructor approval is required – Any replacement must meet Bellarmine’s faculty credentialing requirements and be officially approved before teaching the course.
  • Maintain course continuity – The substitute must follow the approved syllabus, grading policies, and course objectives.

Short-term absences (less than two weeks) do not require a formal substitute approval but should be communicated in advance if possible.
