The Rubel School of Business is proud to launch the first episode of Bellarmine on Business. Jim Ray (EMBA ’08) interviews the new dean, Dr. Natasha Munshi. They discuss her vision for the future of Bellarmine’s Rubel School of Business.
Dr. Munshi’s hiring was highlighted in an April 8th announcement. She most recently
held the position of associate dean of Graduate Business in the School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Mary’s College of California. She holds a Ph.D. in Management from the University of Pittsburgh, an MBA in International
Business and Management from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., a master’s in biochemistry from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, and a bachelor’s degree in zoology and biochemistry from St. Xavier’s College
at the University of Bombay.
Community Outreach and Engagement
This is a cornerstone of Dr. Munshi’s vision. She discusses how she would like to see the Rubel School of Business become a “community hub.” One of the initiatives is the Women of Color Entrepreneurial Leadership Certificate. This
initiative is being overseen by Dr. Pat Carver.
Executive Education & Program Development
Providing this type of community resource can include non-degree certificates, C-suite leadership programs and mid-level professional development. Promoting Bellarmine’s Rubel School of Business to
the business community as a resource is vital to creating lasting engagement and the promotion of our brand.
Dr. Munshi describes how businesses and corporations will be able to engage with Rubel to provide innovative training and skill-enhancement opportunities for employees of those companies.
Center for Social Innovation
This is an exciting part of Dr. Munshi’s vision for our business school. The initiative would enable the Rubel School of Business to assist in identifying solutions for large social issues such as financial insecurity and issues related to the educational
sector (e.g. access to affordable education and educational justice). The concept will challenge business leaders and community leaders to come together to create innovative approaches that can be implemented and measured. She later explains the motivation
behind the upcoming Social Innovation Hackathon.
