Sonya Abston

Sonya Abston doing a yoga poseSonya has passionately practiced yoga for over 10 years. Over the past 3 years she has completed her 200hr RYT as well as additional certifications in Prenatal, Assisting, and Yoga fit. She teaches several different types of yoga but her favorite is power vinyasa. She's an expert in motivating and challenging fellow Yogis to strengthen, tone, stretch, and most importantly feel great about themselves!

Kim Dallara

Dallara After 24 years in the corporate world, Kim decided to pursue certifications in personal training, group fitness instruction, and indoor cycling. She's been working in the fitness industry since 2016 teaching classes and training clients of all ages, genders, and experience levels to reach their health and fitness goals. Her clients have ranged from cancer survivors, runners, post-rehabilitative, and armed forces basic training cadets, to retired adults seeking to improve functional movement and quality of life. As a former competitive gymnast and current triathlete, Kim believes in improving multi-dimensional strength and movement via cross-training that's customized to the individual. Come join Kim at boot camp! It's a fun, energetic class for all experience levels and no two classes are alike!

Mary Delk

Mary Delk headshotMy name is Mary Delk. I have been teaching fitness classes for over 25 years. I teach fitness classes regularly at Jewish Community Center. I have been instructing at Bellarmine for 5+ years. I have 2 daughters and one of them attended BU. I have one wonderful grandson who is 2 years old.

I love teaching at the Surf because of the great energy from the students. We work hard and have fun! We have such a diverse group of individuals, it's always interesting. I feel a real connection with all the participants. Yea! Bellarmine Knights!

Kayla Fitzgerald

Kayla Fitzgerald headshotKayla is a certified Barre Instructor through the highly accredited Barre Above. She has danced her entire life including Irish Dance. During her time as an Irish Dancer she was ranked 4th in Mid-America, 12 in North America, and 37th in the World. She also began to practice Barre! She is now excited to continue onto the next chapter in her life as both a Barre instructor as well as a certified Youth Fitness instructor. She is currently a student at Bellarmine University where she is pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, Pre-Athletic Training as well as a minor in nutrition. As someone who loves to always be on the move, she is excited to share her love of Barre with Bellarmine University!

Autumn Grasty

Autumn Grasty headshotI started my group fitness career in 2014, got my Personal Training certification in 2015, and am currently certified to teach five different formats. I'm also a regional Master Trainer for Speedball Fitness, so I get to train other instructors how to teach the format. I love learning new things and challenging myself to grow - stepping out of my comfort zone is something I try to do often.

Fun Fact: I am a combat veteran of the US Air Force, and did a tour in Iraq in 2005. I also play the oboe and English horn in concert band at IUS and in high school musical pit orchestras.

Melodie Hardison

Melodie Hardison headshotI have been a Zumba Instructor since 2016, and got certified in Group Fitness in 2017. These certifications have allowed me to personalize workouts for each of my classes, which include circuit training and weekly boot camps. I love teaching Zumba because of the international flavor of the music, as my Zumba classes include Latin, African, Indian, and Asian rhythms. Also, there is always a new song on the horizon, so the classes stay fresh and exciting! So come join me for a fun-filled hour of great music and dancing!

Beth Hendricks

Hendricks Beth is an exercise physiologist at Frazier Rehab Institute. She has a Bachelors in Exercise and Sport Sciences and a Masters in Exercise Physiology. She became a certified REFIT® instructor in June of 2018. She also has Group Exercise Instructor and Core and Function Fitness Instructor certifications. Her passion is helping others get stronger and progress along their journey to better health. She has been in the fitness industry for six years now and believes REFIT® is an experience like no other. It focuses on strengthening the heart as a muscle and soul! Beth loves seeing people of all ability levels dancing, feeling loved, and having fun in class.

Stefanie Jose

Stefanie JoseStefanie Jose As a former competitive gymnast and military officer, Stefanie has always seen health and wellness integral to her life. She began practicing yoga over 10 years ago as a way to relieve stress but soon realized that yoga could provide so much more and she wanted to share it with others. Today, Stefanie is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with almost 1000 hours of instruction. She enjoys guiding students in a practice that strengthens and opens their body, mind and spirit. Her yoga classes incorporate a creative flow of yoga postures, breath work and meditation while focusing on safe alignment. Her training in Hatha, Vinyasa, and Pranakriya yoga, as well as her personal studies in Buddhism, influence her teaching. Outside of yoga, Stefanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons, traveling, boot camp and cycling classes, being out in nature and continuing her studies in nutrition and exercise.

Susie Pope

I've been active in several athletic endeavors for most of my life. I am a runner and cyclist. My husband and I ride road and trail bikes all around the city. We also love to hike and backpack in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC. 

Practicing the Baptiste style of yoga has kept the intense physicality I love in a yoga practice! I am so proud to be a part of the teaching team at 502py. It's been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life!

Hannah Steen

Hannah Steen headshotI was born and raised in southern KY, but moved to Louisville in 2010. I am an alumna of the University of Louisville and had an internship in Bellarmine’s Student Activities Center as a graduate student. I became certified as a group fitness instructor in 2015 because I believe that together we can accomplish more than we ever can on our own! I love helping participants try new exercises and seeing them reach goals that they didn’t think they could—STRONG is in, people. My full time job is working as the Assistant Director of Student Activities at BU, but I love getting to know faculty and staff through my Cardio Sculpt class.

Fun Fact: Yoga is my favorite kind of exercise to do (not teach) because I see so many benefits to the practice both on and off my mat. Come practice with me at 502 Power Yoga!

Elizabeth Nalley Thompson

Elizabeth “Izzy” Nalley Thompson is Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with over 1000 hours of yoga instruction, Personal Trainer & Wellness Coach. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Public Health, minored in Wellness Coaching and Peace, Justice and Conflict Management from UofL.

Izzy is trained in Hatha and Vinyasa with an emphasis in Buddhist philosophy, meditation and corrective alignment. Other trainings and certifications: Koru Mindfulness Meditation Certificate, National Academy of Sports Medicine, EXOS Fitness Specialist & Performance Specialist, Pilates, Zumba, Cycling, Silver Sneakers, BodyShred and more.
