Jim BreslinDr. James D. Breslin is originally from Louisville, KY, and his academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame and an Master of Science and PhD in Higher Education from the University of Kentucky. His interests include student transitions from high school to college, peer-based support programming, college readiness and developmental education, legal issues in higher education, and student cultures on American college campuses. Dr. Breslin has presented more than 30 sessions at regional, national, and international conferences on a variety of topics in the field.

Dr. Breslin has recently been recognized for his work by the American College Personnel Association, with the Commission for Academic Support’s Commitment to Excellence in Academic Support Award, and the National College Learning Center Association, with the Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center Award (for his leadership of Academic Enhancement at the University of Kentucky).

Dr. Breslin participates as an active citizen in the field of higher education and has consulted with more than two dozen institutions across the US and beyond. He has served as Managing Editor of the Kentucky Journal of Higher Education Policy and Practice; Editor of the Academic Support Monograph Series for the ACPA Commission for Academic Support in Higher Education; currently serves on the editorial board for The Learning Assistance Review, the peer-reviewed scholarly journal of the National College Learning Center Association; and as a reviewer for the Journal of Interrupted Studies, a multidisciplinary scholarly journal launched at Oxford University to provide publishing opportunities for scholars who have been displaced by forced migration. Dr. Breslin also currently serves on the ACPA Governing Board as the Member-at-Large (Elect), Senior Level.
