About the Panelists:
Dr. Patricia Carver ’00, ’19
Dr. Patricia P. Carver is a retired assistant professor from Bellarmine University and former director of Bellarmine’s Women of Color Entrepreneur Leadership Program. A CPA with over 25 years of experience in government and private sectors, she
is a seasoned consultant in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Dr. Carver serves on several nonprofit boards and was honored with Bellarmine’s William T. Miles Award, as well as the naming of The Dr. Patricia Carver Center which focuses on belonging
and success for all Bellarmine students. A University of Louisville alumna, she has an MBA from Bellarmine, holds a PhD in Leadership in Higher Education from Bellarmine, and is a proud wife, mother, and Nonna.
Fr. Clyde F. Crews ’66
Fr. Clyde F. Crews is Professor Emeritus at Bellarmine after teaching there for 35 years. He is a graduate of Bellarmine (1966) and holds a PhD from Fordham University in New York City. Fr. Crews has written or edited twelve books, including In Veritas
Amore, a history of Bellarmine University. He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Louisville in 1973, served for ten years as Bellarmine's historian, and is also the co-founder of the Louisville Historical League.
Dr. Michael K. Horrigan ’75
After receiving his M.P.A. degree from the University of Alabama, Mike briefly served as Director of Alumni Affairs at Bellarmine. Acceptance of a job at GE Appliances in Louisville launched his 30-year career in the Human Resources (HR) management field.
Executive positions with brand name apparel producers and a foreign-owned automotive supplier took Mike around the world.
After a health-related early retirement, Mike served as a workforce development consultant while earning a Doctor
of Education degree from Northeastern University. In 2020, he moved back to Kentucky, where someone in the Horrigan family has lived since 1920.
Robert G. Pfaadt ‘63
Bob is a proud graduate of Bellarmine where he was a history major and active in many student activities on campus -- Chairman of the Student Senate, Sports Editor of the Concord and was a member of the baseball team. He did his graduate work at Arizona
State University with emphasis on Modern European and Russian history.
While working as a high school administrator, Bob returned to Bellarmine initially as a part-time history instructor in the summer of 1969. He has been involved with the university under all three names – Bellarmine College, Bellarmine - Ursuline
College and Bellarmine University. He has also served under all four Bellarmine Presidents.
Hired by Dr. Gene Petrik in 1976 as the Dean of Admissions and Educational Services, Bob spent the next 44 years on campus – 24 of them in many administrative capacities including Vice President of Student Affairs and 20 years as a full-time professor
in the History Department teaching seven different courses. Upon retirement he was honored by Bellarmine University by being named as a “Professor Emeritus”.
Sister Jean Anne Zappa ’72, OSU
Sister Jean Anne Zappa, OSU is presently the President of the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, serving her second term after ministering at Shively Area Ministries as development coordinator. In her early ministry years, she taught for 20 years at the
former Angela Merici High School and Sacred Heart Academy. She has served on numerous boards including Bellarmine University, Sacred Heart Schools, Catholic Education Foundation, DeSales High School and St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Sister Jean Anne is a graduate of Bellarmine University with a degree in Sociology, and a graduate of St. Meinrad School of Theology with a Masters in Religious Education and a Certificate in Scripture. She has a great interest in political science, leading
her to work as an intern at NETWORK on her sabbatical as well as a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, her hometown team.
