Lindsey Peetz-MurrayLindsey Peetz-Murray is the Director of the Pioneer Scholars Program at Bellarmine University in the Student Success Center. Lindsey works with first-generation freshmen and supervises upperclassmen Peer Mentors who coordinate weekly Pioneer events that support the academic and social transition into Bellarmine for first-generation students. In addition to her work with the Pioneer Scholars Program, Lindsey teaches a freshman focus class helping students in their first semester at Bellarmine. Lindsey believes in the value of higher education and that students helping other students can educate individuals on opportunities available, the pathways to college, and how to be successful in and outside of the classroom. With this belief in mind, she has implemented initiatives to support the vision of students leading students. In 2015 Lindsey worked with CTAN through 55,000 degrees, an initiative created by the Louisville Mayor, to implement the Summer Coaching Program where she served as the program Coordinator. Through this initiative graduating JCPS high school students were linked to current college students that served as a mentor throughout the summer months answering questions about college and directing students to resources with the goal of making students feel more confident entering college and reducing summer melt. As Director of the Pioneer Scholars Program, Lindsey has worked with local high schools and community organizations to implement student panels where Pioneer Mentors share their personal experiences as college students, answer questions, and establish a sense of pride in being first-generation college students, showing others they can go to college and be successful too.
