How to Apply

When do I apply?

The Learning Community application opens in early January. The application priority deadline is March 1. In order to be considered for housing with the Learning Community, students should apply early to be placed on the housing list. Living with the Learning Community cannot be guaranteed after March 1.

How do I apply?

Students interested in a Learning Community should apply through the online application. Students can apply to as many communities as they wish, however they will only be selected for one Learning Community.

How will I know I have been accepted?

Once a student has applied to one of our Learning Communities, they will receive an email notifying them of their status. The emails will start being sent after the March 1 deadline. Students will receive an email if they have been accepted, waitlisted, or have not been selected for the program. Within the email, students will be asked to confirm their participation in the learning community by completing the LC Participant Expectations & Confirmation Form. Completing this form will confirm their space in the Learning Community.

How are students selected?

Students are selected primarily based upon the quality of their application and available space in the Learning Community. Application reviewers are focused primarily on what the applicant's motivation is to be in the program, and in some cases, the applicant's motivation to pursue a particular career. Additionally, reviewers are looking for applicants who can bring unique qualities and characteristics to the community, as well as the overall quality of application and whether the applicant meet the priority deadline.

What happens after I am accepted?

After students have been accepted, the Student Success Center advisors will work in collaboration with the Director of Learning Communities to build their academic schedule based on their Learning Community. Students should be sure to confirm their admission to Bellarmine University, complete their Advising Form, and Housing application or Housing exemption form. Students will receive an informal hold on their account in the One.Bellarmine portal. This hold does not impact any function of the institution, it simply is an additional notification to the student that they are in a Learning Community.
