    Bellarmine May commencement to feature Wendell Berry as speaker

    Bellarmine University will award 89 master’s and 354 bachelor's degrees during its 54th annual commencement exercises on Saturday, May 12. The commencement speaker will be Wendell Berry, celebrated American writer, farmer and conservationist. Ceremonies will begin at noon in Knights Hall on Bellarmine’s campus.

    Wagoners inducted into mock trial coaches’ hall of fame

    Bellarmine University Mock Trial coaches Ruth and Jim Wagoner were inducted into the American Mock Trial Association Coaches Hall of Fame. The honor is given to coaches who have not only produced excellent, competitive results over a long period of time, but also to those whose programs have upheld the high ethical standards of the American Mock Trial Association.

    Bob Woodward to deliver Wyatt Lecture on March 20

    Distinguished author and journalist Bob Woodward will deliver the 2007 Wilson W. and Anne D. Wyatt Lecture on Tuesday, March 20 at Bellarmine University. Woodward’s lecture, “State of Denial” will begin at 7 p.m. in Knights Hall on Bellarmine’s campus. The lecture is free and open to the public. No tickets are required, and seating will begin at 6 p.m.

    Bellarmine names Ryan as vice president for enrollment management

    Bellarmine University President Dr. Joseph J. McGowan has announced the appointment of Sean J. Ryan to the position of vice president for enrollment management at Bellarmine University, effective March 1, 2007. In this role, he will oversee all aspects of student recruitment and financial aid.

    Bellarmine University exhibits collection of rare books and manuscripts

    Bellarmine University is hosting an exhibit titled “Faith, Freedom and Governance” that features rare documents and books from the collection owned by The Remnant Trust, Inc. The exhibit will be displayed in the W.L. Lyons Brown Library until May 14, and it will be housed in the Frazier Board Room as well as the display case on the first floor.

    Harding to deliver lecture at Bellarmine

    Vincent Harding, a professor of religion and social transformation, will deliver the lecture “Thomas Merton and the Tragedy and the Hope of America,” at Bellarmine University on Thursday, February 22. The program will be held in Frazier Hall at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.

    Veritas Society announces spring classes/events

    The Veritas Society, sponsored by Bellarmine University School of Continuing and Professional Studies and affiliated with the Elderhostel Institute, offers a variety of special six week courses for folks who are 54 and older. This spring Veritas is offering 17 classes and four discussion groups. A "Lunch and Learn" series also is in the offing for the spring.

    Bellarmine University has named 562 full- and part-time students to its dean's list for the 2006 fall semester. The dean's list recognizes students who receive a grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.
