Peer Notetaker Accommodation

If you have been approved by the Office of Disability Services for this accommodation, and requested a notetaker, Disability Services will seek a volunteer peer notetaker in your requested courses.

Once a peer notetaker has been identified, you will anonymously be linked via our Accommodate website. To access notes, log in to Accommodate using your One Bellarmine email and password and select ‘Note-taker network.’ Here you will find all notes that have been uploaded thus far.

Notetaking Application Accommodation

Sonocent Audio Notetaking: Once added to the system by Disability Services, you will receive an email directly from Sonocent (hello@sonocent.com) providing next steps.

The email will ask you to:

  1. Download and install the software on your computer
  2. Open Sonocent Audio Notetaker and enter your License Key
    • If you do not receive an email, check your spam folder

Once you have completed these steps, you will be able to easily open Sonocent from your desktop. Additionally, after the download, you will be emailed a code that will enable you to connect the license you are using to your phone/tablet app called ‘Sonocent Link.’

Audiobook/Alternate text file Accommodation

  1. Students who qualify to use audio books as an accommodation MUST complete this digital form to request text files of their books
    • Please make request 2-4 weeks before anticipated assigned reading (or as soon as possible).
    • Once completed, and text request has been fulfilled, you will be given access to a digital file (pdf or word document).
    • You can then use Read&Write (or other personal software/hardware) to have the text file read aloud.
    • IMPORTANT: Files that are not readily available can take 2-4 weeks to be released from publishers, and we cannot start the process until you have submitted your request via this digital form.
  2. Read&Write is the literacy software used by Disability Services to provide audio textbook accommodations. It provides comprehensive reading and writing supports for documents, files and web pages.

    • The Office of Disability Services purchased a campus-wide license, so every BU member can download and use Read&Write features!
