DeAnna L. Brown, Ed.D.
Dr. Brown serves as the Director of Bellarmine University’s new TRIO Student Support Services program. Prior to joining Bellarmine, she was the Director of Title III Programs at Kentucky State University. She earned her bachelor’s
degree in manufacturing engineering from Central State University in 2003. A two-time graduate of the University of Dayton, Dr. Brown completed her master’s degree in engineering management in 2006 and her doctorate in Leadership for Organizations
in 2024.
Dr. Brown brings a wealth of experience in government program management and is deeply committed to supporting students, fostering their growth, and advancing their success.
Academic Success Coach
Skyler Brown, M.Ed.
Skyler Brown serves as an Academic Success Coach in the TRIO Student Support Services program. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Indiana State University. With over four years of experience in higher education, three years of TRIO experience, and an additional three years in community mental health, Skyler is passionate about supporting student success through holistic, student-centered approaches. Her background blends mental health advocacy and academic development, fostering inclusive environments where students can thrive both personally and academically.
Academic Success Coach
Sophia Vargas
Sophia Vargas serves as a TRIO Academic Success Coach at Bellarmine University in the TRIO Student Support Services program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in Clinical and Counseling from Bellarmine University and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership at Bellarmine. Prior to this role, she worked as a Financial Aid Counselor, where she supported students and families in navigating the financial aid process and understanding funding opportunities to make higher education more accessible. In addition, Sophia participated in the North American Language and Culture Assistants Program (NALCAP), where she taught English in Spain and strengthened her cross-cultural communication and student engagement skills.
